Welcome to the Hoosier Hills Firefighters chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters International. Serving all emergency responders who selflessly serve others. The FCFI purpose includes glorifying God in the fire service, fellowshipping together for individual growth in the Christian life, serving the cause of Christ through the church of one’s own choice, encouraging those in the fire service in their Christian life, sharing locally in planned fellowship meetings, individual contact and prayer, bringing all Christians in the fire service to a common goal of praying for the fire service and its members, sharing on an international basis through an annual international conference, having contact internationally with fellow Christian firefighters and the caring for firefighters in time of need. Individual chapters and members share Christ’s love in the fire service and their communities in many other varied ways. |

TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT
There are two well-known adages in regards to training. The first is: “Train like you fight and fight like you train.” The second is: “In the heat of the battle you don’t remember very much. You don’t think very fast. You act by instinct, which is really training. So you’ve got to be trained for battle so that so that you will react exactly the way you did in training.” Studying the scriptures is no different than the mandatory training we go through as firefighters and EMS caregivers. Without training, we have no reaction in crisis situations. Deer-in-the-headlights reflex! Without proper training, we respond to crisis situations either poorly or improperly. Even with quality, repetitive training, we respond as we have practiced. This means we must constantly be honing our skills and knowledge, so that when the crisis does come, we can respond. This applies even to the Bible. Every one of us is destined to die a physical death. There are essentially three kinds of physical death. Death that is anticipated or expected [such as old age], lingering prolonged illness [such as cancer], and sudden traumatic death. Death, and many other stressful situations, can cause us to question God as to why, why, why? Without proper training, and continual exercise of that training (i.e. study of the scriptures and fellowship with other believers) in a time of crisis our faith may falter or fail us altogether because we were not equipped to handle the situation. Train as if lives depend on it — because they do. And likewise people’s souls. Therefore, we encourage you to join us in a Bible study that is geared toward responders and their specific needs led by those who share the same needs and concerns as other responders. |
